F&C Schools Challenge winners Lyndon Green Junior School |
During the 2007-08 season Birmingham City and principal sponsors F&C Investments launched a football talent competition on an unprecedented scale.
Now, following a fantastic event on the hallowed turf of St. Andrew's Stadium this week, we're delighted to be able to announce the name of the inaugural F&C Schools Challenge winners? Lyndon Green Junior School from Sheldon.
Earlier this year schools were invited to write to the club and tell us why they should be allowed to take part in the massive football festival at St. Andrew's, which took place on Tuesday.
Excited year 5 and 6 pupils from 16 schools across the region battled it out and all of the schools who took part in the six-a-side tournament received brand new Umbro team kits, courtesy of F&C.
As winners, Lyndon Green (pictured above) also received a selection of equipment for their PE department and tickets to a game in the 2008-09 season.
But, more importantly, they were crowned the first ever F&C Schools Challenge champions.
Congratulations to Lyndon Green and to all of the other schools who showed such a great spirit on the day.
They were: Bishop Wilson C of E; Holy Family Catholic; Blakenhale Junior; Chilcote Primary; West Heath Primary; St Paul's Catholic Primary; Kingsbury Primary; Holy Name Catholic Primary; Water Orton Primary; Lindens Primary; Northfield Manor Primary; Our Lady of Lourdes; Raddlebarn; Adderley and Nechells Primary.
