Poor finishing cost Blues U18's dear once again, as they slipped to a single goal defeat against Spurs at the weekend.

Steve Spooner's Blues side had more than enough chances to take three points from the North London outfit, but unfortunately they had no response to a second half effort from the visitors..

"Again our players gave 100 per cent, but a lack of care and caution in front of goal cost them," said the Blues coach.

"As a contest it was pretty nip and tuck.

"In the first half our two midfielders Mitchell McPike and Ryan Burge dominated, but we had to change it around at half time because two players had to come off because of our FA Youth Cup tie two days later.

"In my view and that affected our momentum and Tottenham's goal came about ten minutes into the second half when a lack of communication cost and we failed to track their runner.

"All of a sudden they (Spurs) got up a head of steam and we had to reshuffle the midfield.

"We hit back and put them under some pressure but once again the ball went anywhere except in the goal.

"Having said all that their keeper didn't really have to make a save, underlying the fact we never hit the target.

"We had opportunities but the ball went over or by the side.

"In terms of application and people doing there jobs we were fine, but at the moment we can't get a goal for love nor money, so we need to be more clinical ands stop conceding.

"We do crossing and finishing and shooting practices but it's hard to replicate the game situation."
