Neil Danns scored twice for Blues Reserves
Blues Reserves secured a comfortable 3-1 victory over their West Ham counterparts at St. Andrew's thanks to two goals from Neil Danns (one a penalty) and a single effort from Wilson Palacios.

Reserve team boss Keith was rightly pleased with the result.

"It was a really good, solid performance," said Bertschin.

"We were at St. Andrew's and you'd like to think that is a better arena to play the game," said Bertschin.

"West Ham were generally a young side but they had one or two experienced players as well.

"They were quick and competitive and put up a good show.

"We started off a little bit sluggish but we soon got into the game we got a terrific goal after about 15 minutes.

"Some neat play down the left ended up with Stefan Milojevic whizzing the ball across and Neil Danns makes a fantastic run and finishes at the near post.

"At that stage I thought we were going to go on and get some more goals quickly, but then from our corner the ball came out and their player has moved the ball beautifully on the edge of hour box and curled it into the corner of our net for a great goal.

"So it was 1-1 at half time and evenly balanced and then we were awarded a penalty.

"To be fair from where I was I didn't know if it hit his hand or not, but Neil Danns has taken it and scored to put us 2-1 up and then one of our defenders made a slightly clumsy challenge and gave away a penalty.

"But Colin Doyle stepped up to the plate and he's made a wonderful save, but the referee and linesman have adjudged that both feet are off the goal line.

"Nine times out of ten they score the second one but he's made an even better save the second time and I think that was the turning point for us.

"We went on and Wilson Palacios picked up the ball in midfield and he drifted past two or three of their players and then finished really calmly.

"It was probably goal of the night for me."
