Blues Reserves booked their place in the 3rd Round of the Birmingham Senior Cup thanks to a comfortable victory against Solihull Moors.

Gary McSheffrey, who was playing up front alongside Neil Danns, scored a brace of goals, with Danns and Asa Hall notching a goal apiece for Keith Bertschin's side.

"It was a convincing victory and a thoroughly professional display, particularly from the senior players," said Bertschin.

"In fairness we were too strong for Solihull which is how it should be, although they were very competititive and created a few chances.

"We had Queudrue and Jaidi playing centre half and McSheffrey and Danns playing centre forward.

"And with the seasoned professionals that they are they always ask to play and they always play properly."

Turning to the goals Bertschin said:  "The first goal came from McSheffrey just before the quarter hour mark.

"He has picked the ball up in field drifted out to the left before hitting a thunderous shot past their goalkeeper.

"Asa Hall scored the second and then McSheffrey has hit a fantastic right footed shot to make it 3-0.

"Then just before half time Danns has drifted in from the right before bending one in with his left foot."

Danns was later forced to leave the pitch with what appeared to be a serious ankle injury, but according to the Reserve team boss it is not as bad as they initially feared.

"We thought it was a nasty injury, but it just looks like a bruise to the ankle or he may have just stretched one or two little ligaments," he said.

"By all accounts it is not as bad we first thought.

"It would have been a shame if he'd hurt himself because he'd done well and he was just about to come off after doing his bit."
