Blues Reserves put in a thoroughly professional performance as they beat their Chelsea counterparts 2-0 on Monday evening.

Both Blues goals came in the second half of the game, with Stuart Parnaby volleying his side into the lead just after the break and Robert Gradwell doubling the advantage late on.

On a crisp evening at Brentford's Griffin Park Stadium, Blues' experienced line-up proved too much for some of the best young players in the country.

Parnaby's opener came as a result of a great piece of play by 15-year old Jordan Mutch.

Mutch lost his marker on the left wing before whipping in an inch perfect cross to the back of the box for Parnaby to steer the ball home with a neat right footed volley.

Gradwell's 83rd minute goal was created from the opposite wing.

Howland fired the ball in from the right touchline and Gradwell rose well to direct a backward header past the Chelsea keeper and in to the back of the net.

Club captain Damien Johnson completed the full 90 minutes following his recovery from a hamstring problem.

And for Chelsea, German international Michael Ballack played the first 45 minutes for the Pensioners.
