Blues Reserves suffered a single goal defeat at Villa Park on Monday evening.

The only goal of the game came on 22 minutes when Villa's Sam Williams cut into the box before curling his shot past Colin Doyle into the top corner of the net.

But both teams created a host of other chances, with Garry O'Connor, Jake Jervis, Daniel de Ridder and schoolboy Adam Newbury all going close for the visitors.

At the other end, Colin Doyle was in excellent form making numerous saves to keep Blues in the game.

Martin Taylor completed the full 90 minutes as he gets back his match sharpness ahead of a possible return to first team action this weekend.
