Blues Reserves suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat away at Derby County on Monday evening.

The game, which took place at Burton Albion's Pirelli Stadium was Blues' final Barclays Premier Reserve League game of the season.

The home side started the game brightly and had a couple of attempts on the Blues goal before they opened the scoring after just 13 minutes.

A goalmouth scramble saw the ball fall to Estonian striker Henrik Ojamaa outside the box and he blasted home a half volleyed effort into the top corner of Colin Doyle's net.

Despite falling a goal behind Blues soon began to take charge of the play and twice went close to notching an equaliser.

Robert Gradwell headed just wide from Luke Hubbins' cross and then Ashley Sammons found himself through on the Rams goal, but was denied by a last ditch challenge from Johnson.

The second half saw the home side in the ascendancy and they had three efforts in quick succession.

But it was Blues who went closest to scoring the next goal.

Jamie Sheldon had a shot deflected wide and then Luke Hubbins saw his attempt cleared off the line.

Blues were given a scare on 70 minutes when Colin Doyle went down injured and he appeared to be in some pain with a neck problem, but following some lengthy treatment he was able to carry on.

Both sides had half chances in the closing stages but neither were able to break the deadlock and Derby ran out winner thanks to their first half strike.

Highlights from the game will be on Blues World on Tuesday.
