stephenkellyEver-present defender Stephen Kelly is urging his team mates to concentrate on winning this Sunday's crucial final game against Blackburn and let the other decisive matches take care of themselves.

Blues must better the results achieved by Fulham (at Portsmouth) and Reading (at Derby) if they are to retain their Premier League status.

Kelly said: "We just know that we have to go out at the weekend and do what we can which is win and then see what happens and hopefully the other results will come in for us.

"All we can do is affect our own performance and hope that we win to give ourselves the best opportunity to stay in the Premier League.

"You look at the results and the mistakes that we've made and little things that could have been changed, goals that have been given away late in the game and tiny incidents that make the game swing away from you.

"It's a fine line and it hasn't gone for us this season and we are in the situation that we are which we can't do anything about now apart from making sure that we win our last game.

"Everyone is still confident that we can be in the Premier League next season but it's not in our own hands."

Kelly admitted that the players were disappointed with the number of goals they have conceded in recent months, particularly from set pieces.

KellyBlues have not kept a clean sheet since Boxing Day and the defender conceded: "We've not been sharp enough and aggressive enough to stop teams from scoring goals against us.

"We work on it during the week, trying to make sure everyone knows their jobs.

"But sometimes it's just little individual errors that cost us games and it has been like that for the last few months."

The Republic of Ireland full-back will be the only player in the Premier League to have played every minute of every game if he comes through the full match on Sunday.

Kelly commented: "I'm proud to have kept my place in the team for every Premier League game because it is no easy feat.

"But it's going to be difficult to take if we go down. You kind of think, you're the only player to have played every game but you've been relegated.

"It's still something I can be proud of because not many people get to achieve that and I think that's credit to me for staying fit.

"Sometimes you have little niggling injuries and it's a matter of playing through the pain."

kellyEven if Blues are unsuccessful in their bid to survive on Sunday, Kelly cannot envisage himself being anywhere else apart from St. Andrew's next season.

"I've had two great years here and regardless of what happens on Sunday, I see my future here," he concluded.

"Last season we came up with a very young squad and it has been improved this season.

"If we hold on to all the players, I can see us bouncing straight back up.

"But I don't want to think about that now. All my focus is on this weekend's game and hopefully staying in the Premier League."
