Colin Doyle is a 6'5" keeper who came over from Ireland to join the club as a 16-year-old Academy scholar in 2001.
Doyle made his Blues debut in the Carling Cup against Shrewsbury, before making his League bow a few days later at Cardiff City.
During the 2005/06 season he gained useful experience on loan with Millwall playing in 14 games on loan at the New Den.
He also spent time at League Two side Chester City and former Championship club Nottingham Forest during the previous campaign, making one and four appearances respectively.
The Cork-born shot stopper has represented the Republic of Ireland at various youth levels up to under 21.
Doyle signed a new two-year-deal in the summer of 2006.
Following the departure of Nico Vaesen, Doyle became Blues' number two keeper behind Maik Taylor, but replaced his older colleague as number one towards the end of the 2006/07 season.
Doyle made some crucial saves in the final weeks of that campaign to help secure the club's promotion back to the Premier League, notably an injury time penalty stop against Wolves.
He was rewarded with a new four-year contract and his season was capped by a first appearance for the Republic of Ireland senior side.
