Mikael Forssell initially joined Blues from Chelsea on a four-month loan deal in August 2003.
This deal was then increased until the end of the 2003/04 campaign, before being extended yet again for a further season in April 2004.
The Finnish international became a firm favourite with the St. Andrew's faithful due to his prolific goal-scoring form in the 2003/04 season - he netted 19 times in 37 games.
Unfortunately a serious knee injury just four games into the 2004/05 season left him sidelined for the majority of the rest of that campaign and he officially returned to Stamford Bridge in January 2005.
He made his comeback for the Premiership champions in the back end of the 2004/05 campaign before returning to St. Andrew's for a third time in the summer of 2005 - this time on a permanent basis for a fee of £3.5 million.
But once again he was forced to miss much of the 2005/06 season while he struggled to regain his fitness.
During the 2006/07 season he made just ten appearances following his recovery from a knee injury.
